About us and the Service
Whaam is a discovery engine based on our idea of social surfing. We wanted to create a place where you share your favorite links, explore what everyone else is sharing, and discover what you didn't even know you were looking for.
On Whaam you can start by saving all you favorite links and store them neatly in one place. To keep them organized you create linklists that you can share with others. If you don’t feel like saving anything you can go out and discover by browsing our categories or checking out somebody else’s linklists.
The idea was first born in 2008, and in 2010 we started developing the site. A large idea becoming reality in the hands of a small group of students in Stockholm, Sweden. The beta version was launched in August 2011 with a collection of just over 10,000 links. We are all Internet enthusiasts, and we believe that the expansion of the Internet makes it necessary to find new ways to navigate it. We want Whaam to be that new solution - making discovery easy and intuitive even as the Internet keeps growing.
